What an ordeal!
When my domain name Testedtough.com came up for renewal, I wanted to save a few dollars and have more control pertaining to the domain, so I searched for "domains" on google and got dozens of sites to choose from.
I decided to go with GoDaddy.com because of the features and apparent ease of the tranfrer process.
I painstakingly entered all the pertinent info and clicked the button to initiate the transfer.
I was then presented with a confirmation screen that seemed to go to nowhere. Nothing to click like "ok" or "submit".
At this point I need to inform you, the reader, that I am at the age where my eyes are needing a little more help reading this computer screen. So I saw nothing to do and thought the transaction was completed since they took my money.
When I checked my email the next morning, I was to log in and verify the information.
At this point there WAS a click that I must have missed.
Here is what should have told me to delve in deeper:
I kept getting email reminders that my domain was expiring soon, and I disregarded this as I had already paid for the transfer.
I got a notice in the mail. The same thing, it's taken care of I thought.
I was checking my Google Adwords account one day and decided to reference my site so I clicked on the link for the adword. And dear God what did I see?? A generic webpage filled with every imaginable link that was totally unrelated to my site!!
Lord why is this so??!!
I went straightaway to Godaddy, com and logged into my account and it showed testedtough.com as being EXPIRED!
What??!!
Another nameserver had taken overn my "expired" domain. I had to beg and plead to get the prior and the current domain regstrars to release the lock that had a death grip on my site.
I immediately paused my Google Adwords as I had no idea that the links were going to another website. I had just got it tweaked to be more pleasant to the eye and was hopefully awaiting some report of clicks on my affiliate links, but NO, not today, tomorrow or the next week!
It took me a good 2 weeks to get it back in line pleading and grumbling about my inability to cope with such a thing if God did not want to teach me something here.
I need to be diligent in all I do. Not just to skim over something. A worker is worthy of his hire, so I got paid for what I did (not) do.
I am so thankful it has been restored, It is not taken for granted any more.
Thank You Jesus!
